Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

Hi guys -

I've been reading up on Heart Rate Variability and more broadly on the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic (Valgus) branches of the autonomous nervous system.

I'm curious if you implement some kind of training to examine HRV and if so how you apply it (i.e. breath work, determining when to push vs ease back, etc.).

I tracked my HRV for a number of years using ithlete. It was interesting to see the variance and to be able to compare my nutrition, sleep, workload, etc against it and that helped me determine some of my go-to recovery practices. After awhile though I stopped tracking (technical glitches due to a phone upgrade). I continue to monitor my workload but use other biofeedback such a RHR and grip strength as well as just being smart about intensity vs volume days.
