A friend of mine has a teenage son (13 yrs old) who want to play football once he enters high school next year. He is a normal healthy teenager with no known physical issues/problems. He wants to be pro- active and start lifting weights/training before the next school year.
I recommended that he be evaluated by a sports medicine physician to determine the level of training he should be exposed to at his age and ,of course, I mentioned that she should seek out a qualified trainer for him.
Do you feel that is solid advice or would you recommend something different? I appreciate your thoughts/guidance.
